Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Cases of finding ‘insect-infested food’ have been common lately. However, the case becomes big when such shortcomings are made by popular and trusted companies.
Yet another case came to light from Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur, where a customer discovered a caterpillar in their meal ordered through a popular food delivery app - Swiggy.
The food was delivered from Bakul Restaurant located in Jabalpur.
The customer, clearly disturbed, shared the experience on social media, tagging Swiggy and calling out the lack of hygiene.
He posted a video zooming out on the insect and wrote, “I ordered food from **Bakul Restaurant, Jabalpur** via @SwiggyIndia, and shockingly, found a **caterpillar** in my meal! This is unacceptable and poses a serious hygiene risk.”
The incident has raised concerns about food safety standards followed by restaurants listed on delivery platforms. The customer also shared the Order ID: 207214823289702 in the complaint, demanding accountability.
Swiggy's customer care handle, @SwiggyCares, has been tagged in the post, but an official response is still awaited at the time of reporting.

Not a new case!
Unsatisfactory food delivery is one of the trending issues on social media with netizens flooding complaints and negative reviews over receiving ‘bad to worst’ food.
Earlier on May 2, a customer was awarded ₹15,130 in compensation after a dead fly was found in their food order from Vrindavan Dhaba on Swiggy. The compensation was made after the orders of Bhopal Consumer Forum in a food contamination case.
Last year in August, a passenger found a worm inside his food in Vande Bharat Express. The passenger created a ruckus after the incident and alleged that his food packet was not replaced. Railway officials addressed the matter and started an investigation.
