Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A dance-drama, Prane Jalam, by Padma Shri recipient Bharatnatyam exponent Geeta Chandran and her troupe from New Delhi and the performance of Janki Women Band from Jabalpur enthralled the audience at Bharat Bhawan in the city on Sunday.
It was part of the third-day of six-day Sadaneera Samagam organised by Veer Bharat Nyas under Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan. Choreographed by Geeta Chandran, the dance drama is an invocation to remember the sacred waters that are the source of life that channelise consciousness and provide direction and strength to all humanity.
A tribute was also paid to Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj in Sangam Alarippu. Inspired by Kalidasa's Ritusamhara, the process of formation of streams and rivers from raindrops was showcased that captivated the audience who were present in good numbers.
Sangeet Natak Award recipient theatre artist Anoop Joshi ‘Bunty’ designed colourful lights. The event began with the enchanting performance of Janaki Women Band. They started off with the hymn in which they worshiped Ganga, Yamuna, Sindhu, Kaveri and Narmada river. The band presented folk songs, based on the importance of the Narmada River.
Besides, more than 20 short films based on rivers were screened in the three-day film festival, which concluded on Sunday.
