National Conference On Paediatric Thoracic Surgery From July 19

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The Society of Paediatric Thoracic Surgery (SPTS), a part of the Indian Association of Paediatric Surgeons (IAPS), is organising the first national conference ‘SPTSCON 2025’ in collaboration with Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh chapters of IAPS.

The event will be held from July 19 to 20, 2025 at IRCAD India Centre, Bhandari Auditorium, Sri Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences (SAIMS), Indore.

The two-day event will feature participation from over 150 specialists, residents and post-doctoral MCh students from across India and abroad. Notably, this is the first time such a paediatric thoracic surgery conference is being organised in India, making it a prestigious moment for Indore.

Ahead of the conference, selected young delegates will receive advanced hands-on training in thoracoscopic surgery at IRCAD India, led by expert trainers from SGPGI Lucknow and Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Delhi.

They will receive mentorship from globally renowned paediatric thoracic surgeons from the USA and France through virtual sessions. The academic focus of the conference includes critical topics like congenital lung diseases, paediatric thoracic infections such as empyema, mediastinal tumours, childhood tuberculosis, chest wall deformities and foreign body aspiration. Students will also present their research papers and live surgical demonstrations will be a major highlight of the conference.

The conference will witness the presence of eminent personalities including Dr Narendra Are, Director of Medical Education, Telangana; Dr Sumitra Biswas, President of the Indian Association of Paediatric Surgeons (IAPS) and Dr Vikesh Agrawal, Secretary General of IAPS. The event will be inaugurated by Vinod Bhandari, Founder Chairman of Sri Aurobindo Institute and will be presided over by Dr Narendra Are.

The organising committee includes Dr Manoj Joshi, Chairman of SPTS and Organising Chairman of SPTSCON 2025, along with Dr Advait Prakash, Organising Secretary of SPTSCON 2025. Key contributors and local organisers of the event include senior paediatric surgeons Dr Manish Patel, Dr Yogesh Lakhotiya, Dr Mayank Singh, Dr Pritam Bundela, Dr Ashok Lala, Dr Shirish Agnihotri, Dr Ram Mohit Choudhary, Dr Pankaj Sharda, Dr Himani Jaitley, Dr Pooja Tiwari and Dr Vineet Raj.
