Narmadapuram (Madhya Pradesh): The police will reopen the case of a man who went missing from the Meenakshi Chowk area in the city 23 years ago.
According to reports, Sunil Sharma went missing on December 18, 2002. The police failed to hit upon any clue about his missing. Nor was it known whether he was murdered.
Failing to unveil the mystery, the police closed the file. But the court and senior police officers recently asked the cops to reopen the case. The father of Sunil, Ram Kumar Sharma, lodged a complaint at the Kotwali police station about the incident.
The then assistant sub- inspector, Rashbihari Shrivastava, was investigating the case. He was transferred to Shivpur police station. Before going to the place of posting, Shrivastava had submitted the case diary.
Another person began to investigate the case, but they failed to reveal the truth behind Sharma’s disappearance.

His family members said a love triangle may have been the reason behind the incident. The story does not end there. A fire at the police station in 2006 destroyed all records.
The police could not lay their hands on the case diary of Sharma. When Sharma’s family wanted information about the case, the police avoided it. The family members also met senior officers, but their efforts came to naught. The brother of Sunil Sharma, KK Sharma, with the help of a lawyer, Kalpesh Dubey, filed a case in the court.
The court sought the case diary from the police station on March 25 this year. The court dressed down the police when they failed to present the documents to the court.
Sharma’s family members said he had been murdered over a love triangle. The court will hear the case on July 25.
