Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh Congress MLAs raised the issue of ‘drug mafia’ on the fourth day (Thursday) of Monsoon Session at Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly. 

As a mark of protest, they carried drug-like packets and even a garland of injections.

When asked about the moto, the MLAs accused Madhya Pradesh government of promoting ‘drug mafia’ in the entire state. They said, “The web of ‘Drug Mafia’ has been spread in the entire state in such a manner that it looks like a government scheme.”

He went on saying, “Just how the government promotes its scheme in every nook and corner, Drug Mafia have been implanted in the entire state ….. and this is putting the lives of youths at risk.” 

With the protest, therefore, the Congress aims to fight the government in order to wake the youth up for the betterment of lives and future, said the Congressmen.

‘Government wants to protect the bigger fish’

Recently, the MP government bulldozed the illegal properties linked to MD drug peddler Yaseen Ahmed and Shahwar Ahmed in Bhopal. The accused were charged with drug trafficking, sexual exploitation of women, and brutally assaulting youths for extortion.

Regarding the matter, Congressmen said, “If you want to save the big fish, you must kill the small fish. This will shift people’s focus from the big fish. So, all this is a strategy of protecting their bigger fish (motive).”

The Monsoon Assembly commenced on July 28 and will continue till August 8. Meanwhile, Congress MLAs have been determined to raise various issues in front of the government.
