Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh):The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Bhopal, has issued an orange alert for 7 districts on Sunday and warning of torrential rainfall over the next 24 hours.
Due to a strong weather system, many parts of Madhya Pradesh are facing flood-like conditions. The eastern regions, especially Jabalpur, Sagar, Shahdol, and Rewa divisions, are at the highest risk.

For July 6, an orange alert has been issued for Jabalpur, Sagar, Damoh, Seoni, Mandla, Dindori, and Balaghat due to the possibility of extremely heavy rainfall - up to 8 inches in the next 24 hours.
Heavy rain is also likely in Shivpuri, Ashoknagar, Vidisha, Raisen, Narmadapuram, Betul, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Katni, Maihar, Umaria, Shahdol, and Anuppur.
Rain is expected to continue in Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, and Gwalior.
What do meteorologists say?
According to meteorologists, 3 strong weather systems are active in the region - two troughs and one cyclonic circulation. This is the strongest system of the season and is expected to continue for the next 4 days.
On Sunday, 21 districts are on alert. The Bargi Dam in Jabalpur will release 5000 cusecs of water in the afternoon, which could raise water levels at Narmada ghats by 4 - 5 feet.

So far, more than 34 districts in Madhya Pradesh have experienced flooding and heavy rain, including Bhopal, Sidhi, Umaria, Jabalpur, Sagar, Narsinghpur, Shivpuri, Shahdol, Indore, Maihar, Shajapur, Dhar, Sheopur, Raisen, Chhindwara, Dindori, Ujjain, Dewas, Sehore, Agar-Malwa, Rajgarh, Vidisha, Mauganj, Rewa, Satna, Mandla, Ratlam, Damoh, Chhatarpur, Seoni, Balaghat, Betul, Guna, and Khargone.
Rainfall on Saturday included- 2 inches in Sidhi, 1.75 inches in Sagar, 1 inch in Rewa and Satna, 0.75 inches in Mandla and 0.5 inches in Bhopal, Ujjain, Shajapur, Raisen, Ratlam, Chhindwara, and Narsinghpur.
Weather expected in next 2 days
July 7: Very heavy rainfall is expected in Sehore, Narmadapuram, Narsinghpur, Seoni, Mandla, and Balaghat.
Heavy rainfall alert for: Dewas, Harda, Betul, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Vidisha, Raisen, Sagar, Damoh, Jabalpur, Katni, Umaria, and Dindori.
Rain will continue in other districts as well.
July 8: An alert for very heavy rainfall is issued for Mandla, Seoni, and Balaghat.
Heavy rainfall likely in: Ashoknagar, Vidisha, Sehore, Raisen, Narmadapuram, Betul, Pandhurna, Chhindwara, Narsinghpur, Sagar, Damoh, Jabalpur, Panna, Katni, Satna, Maihar, Umaria, Shahdol, Dindori, and Sidhi.
