Alertness paid
The BJP party president was so alert before the election that he was keeping an eye on all activities in the media. The leader, who has been elected to the position he aspired for, did not want his name to corner the media headlines before the election. This was the reason why if any journalist wrote his name as an aspirant for the top job of the party in the state, he used all his powers to remove it from the write-up. He feared his name going public might have been a setback to him. These days, people in the BJP say the person who gets much public attention is shoved aside. He feared that, had his name gone public, he, too, would have lost his wings. Once he confronted this situation. When he was in the race for a ministerial berth, his name was discussed so much that the party bosses gave him the elbow. Thus, when he was vying for the post, he was cautious. Forget the newspapers and electronic media; even if someone wrote his name on social media, he pulled out all the stops to remove it from the post. Now that he has become the president, he is breathing easy. It happened for the first time that the person whose name had been in discussion for five months for the post of the party’s state president got the position.
Silent mode
A minister who is in the habit of giving a reaction to any incident is keeping mum these days after a controversy in his constituency. A bridge built in his constituency raised debates across the country a few days ago. The minister inspected the bridge several times. Whenever he went there, media persons accompanied him to the spot.

There were several photographs of the minister studying the design of the bridge. But what has surprised everyone is how the minister failed to understand the fact that the way the bridge was built would cause accidents after its construction. When the debate over the flaws in the bridge intensified, the minister showed its photographs, saying there was nothing wrong with the construction.
But after the government acted against some officers for the faulty construction, the minister went into silence. It did not happen to the minister for the first time. Lady Luck seems to have kept him out of her favour these days. He recently stirred up one controversy or the other.
Anguished minister
Every minister wants to become the chief minister one day, but the angst of a minister for his failure to become the head of state is apparent. The minister is close to the RSS. He comes from the same community from which the chief ministers of the state have been made. During the rule of the previous government, his name was doing the rounds for the post of chief minister. Now, the minister tells his aides that his name had been finalised for the post of chief minister, but at the eleventh hour, a leader set his name aside on the grounds of caste equation. He is still hopeful of becoming the chief minister. The RSS takes special interest in the department that the minister is heading. Nonetheless, the minister is unable to do much because of the direct interference of the higher-ups in the functioning of the departments working under him. The minister issues controversial statements to win the confidence of the RSS.
Important meetings
Two meetings have created a buzz in political circles in the state. One meeting was between two BJP leaders, and the other was between two Congress leaders. One of the meetings took place between a union minister and a powerful minister of the state. The people in the corridors of power are trying to dig out the significance of the meeting after which the BJP’s state unit president was elected. Thus, most of the people are connecting the one-to-one with the state party president’s election. On the other hand, some people say the party is making some strategies for the future. About the meeting between two Congress leaders, the political observers say some new equations are taking place in the opposition camp. They think a Congress leader may lose his chair in the coming days. This is the reason why he is making efforts to be friends with all leaders of the party. There are reports that a senior Congress leader played an important role in organising the meeting between the two leaders. But some politicians feel both leaders held one-to-one talks to create ripples in the party.
Minister becomes active
A minister has become active again after a few months of pause following a controversy. After a problem for the government arose, it sent the minister to resolve the issue. The minister reached the spot under heavy rain and did his best to work out the problem. He went to the spot on foot as well as rode a tractor-trolley to show the government how hard-working he is. The minister is seen at many functions these days. He also tells his aides how he wriggled out of a dispute that crept up in a closed room. The minister says a senior leader of the BJP came to his rescue. It is because of the senior leader that his ministerial berth has been safe. Else, his adversaries made all efforts to dislodge him from power. But after the incident, the countenance of the minister who used to draw the attention of others through his guffaws has become pale. After the incident, the minister learnt a lesson: he must keep away from the media. This is the reason why he avoids giving bytes to newsmen.
Power game
The Congress’s efforts to induct youths into the party, keeping off the experienced leaders, have failed to yield expected results. The youngsters without proper guidance are unable to raise the issues against the government. Ergo, the agitations recently organised by the party were a fiasco. Even the media persons avoid covering the events of the Congress because of the weak presentation of issues during media briefings. The old warhorses, sitting on the sideline, are feeling bad about the party’s condition in the state. If they try to tear apart the government, a section of leaders in the party will advise them to keep mum.
This has happened because a few leaders want to keep power in their hands. One such leader shows that he wants to revamp the party, but he himself is promoting internal squabbling in the organisation to remain in the driving seat. The factional fight has already cost the party dear. More than two decades have passed since the party lost power in the state. It formed a government in 2018 but failed to manage it because of internal strife. In the 2023 assembly election, the party suffered a humiliating defeat, and internal dissension was one of the reasons for it.
