MP Board To Give Bonus Marks For Paper Errors; ₹100 Penalty Per Mark On Teachers For Wrong Checking

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Students of Class 10 and 12 will get up to 8 bonus marks for errors found in the Maths and Physics question papers, as per the MP Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE).

The evaluation process for the second exams began on June 2, and the board has decided to award bonus marks for questions that had printing or content mistakes.

According to information, copies of students who scored zero or more than 90 percent marks will be rechecked. Also, special focus will be given to students who missed first division or subject-wise merit by just 1 or 2 marks.

The board will be careful while adding marks on each page of such answer sheets.

The copies will be checked strictly as per the model answers, and students will get marks for each correct step. If any teacher checks the copy carelessly and the student’s marks are later increased, a fine of ₹100 per mark will be imposed on the previous evaluator for wrong checking.

An incident also came to light from a center in the capital where Class 12 students were given a Class 10 question paper to solve on June 19. No action has been taken yet by the School Education Department against the center head or the observer.

This year, in the second round of Class 10 and 12 exams, around 3.5 lakh students appeared, and nearly 9 lakh answer sheets are being checked.

Paper wise bonus details :

Class 10 Urdu (Set B, C, and D):
A note below question 17 in Set B wrongly asks students to answer question 13 and 14. Similar errors are in Sets C and D.
➤ Students will get 2 bonus marks for trying to solve this.

Class 10 Mathematics (All Sets A, B, C, D):
In Set A, question 2(6) is wrong. Similar questions in other sets also have errors.
➤ Students will get 1 bonus mark for this.

Class 12 Urdu (Set B, C, and D):
A wrong note after question 6 in Set B says to answer question 14, which is incorrect. Similar mistakes are in Sets C and D.
➤ Students will get 2 bonus marks for trying to solve this.

Class 12 Physics (All Sets):
In Set A, question 7’s option (or "अथवा") is wrong. Same issue is there in all four sets.
➤ Students will get 2 bonus marks for this question.

The board has said that efforts will be made to ensure students are not affected by these errors and all fair steps will be taken during checking.
