Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A major road accident was reported in Patan tehsil of Jabalpur on Monday morning, where as many as 20 people got injured. Additionally, eight of them are said to be in critical condition, said the police.
According to information, the accident occurred when a pickup vehicle carrying laborers overturned due to speeding in Patan. The laborers were on their way to harvest peas from the fields.
They were traveling from Chhedi Baroda in Bhedaghat to Mahua Kheda in Patan. This is when their vehicle suddenly lost control and flipped, leaving 20 people injured and causing chaos and panic among the passengers.

Jabalpur Police investigate cause of accident
Witnessing the incident, local villagers rushed to the scene and helped take the injured to nearby hospitals. The injured are currently being treated at the government hospital in Patan and the Medical College Hospital in Jabalpur.
The injured people have been identified as, Kala Bai Goud (41), Ram Bai (46), Ashok Basor (55), Simma Jhariya (45), Ranjita Goud (13), Kamar Rani (42), Shekhar Goud (16) and Kumari Leela (17). All the victims hail from the same village Baroda.
At present, the local police are investigating the cause of the accident.
