Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): A minor tribal girl has been missing for the past two days in the Maharajpura area of Gwalior. Upset over the lack of police action, the girl's family and local residents staged a sit-in protest at the Maharajpur police station today, on Saturday.

The angry protestors have declared they will not leave until proper action is taken.

The missing girl lived with her mother in a hut in the Shatabdipuram area. Her mother works as a housemaid, cleaning utensils and doing household chores.

She has been visiting the police station repeatedly and has even named some suspects, but claims that the police are not taking her seriously.

While speaking to media, girl’s mother informed that the girl is missing from May 31. She further alleged that the neighbor boy had abducted her.

She added that when she reached the police station to file a complaint, the police did not pay heed, and the family members of the accused boy threatened and assaulted her.

People come in mother's support

After hearing her story, people from the colony came together and went to the police station to support her. They began a peaceful protest and demanded immediate action from the police.

In response, the police stated that they have registered a formal complaint with names mentioned by the mother.

They are now checking mobile call records (CDR) and CCTV footage to trace the girl. The search is still ongoing.

Regarding the matter, police said the boy’s name has come up and has been included in the report.

They are trying to retrieve his call details at present.
