Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A woman’s body wrapped in a saree was recovered from a drain in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur, as reported by police on Friday.
As per police investigation, her husband attacked on her head and chest with an axe and heavy objects, leading to her immediate death, on suspicion of infidelity.
According to information, the matter took place under Madhotal police station limits. Here, a local sarpanch found a body floating in the drain. He immediately informed the Madhotal police.
The police, along with the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team, reached the spot for investigation.

The deceased was identified as Parbati Varkade, a resident of Mangela Bargi. Her husband, Shivkumar Varkade, was taken into custody for questioning, during which he confessed to the crime.
According to the police, the couple had dinner together and went to sleep. Later that night, Parbati got up and went missing from the bed. While searching for her, Shivkumar found her sleeping semi-naked in a field near their residence.
Enraged by suspicion of her character, he attacked her with an axe and stick, hitting her on the head and chest, which killed her on the spot.
After committing the murder, he wrapped her body in a saree and dumped it in a nearby drain.
Shivkumar Varkade has been arrested and presented before the court. A case of murder has been registered against him.
