Madhya Pradesh: Youth Swindles ₹13 Lakh From Multiple People By Posing As A Fake Journalist In Gwalior; Promises Flats Under Journalist Quota |
Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): A man posed as a scribe and duped atleast five people of Rs 13 lakh on pretext of providing flats under PM Awas Yojana in 'journalist quota'.
The complainant Mohammad Shahid Mansuri, a resident of Chawri Bazaar exposed the whole scam in the SP's office. According to Mansuri, a man named Yunus Khan used to visit his shop and had become well acquainted with him because of being from the same community.
Over time, Khan befriended Mansuri and convinced him to get a flat from the journalist quota under the PM Awas Yojana in Nagar Nigam Mahalgaon. In return, he asked for Rs 9 lakh, out of which Rs 2 lakh 60 thousand was taken as an advance token.
Khan allegedly forged documents of a voluntary journalist of Khushbu newspaper to claim his authenticity.
According to reports Khan scammed five more individuals using this tactics and duped a total of over ₹13 lakh. The vicitms never got their money back nor did they get the flat.
ASP Gajendra Vardhman confirmed this as a serious offence involving multiple victims and has directed the Kotwali and Janakganj police station in-charges to take immediate action.
Mansuri informed the police, after paying the advance amount of Rs 2 lakh 60 thousand, 10 months passed and Khan didn't revert him about the flat. Upon suspicion Mansuri asked for his amount back.
On which the accused claimed himself as a journalist and threatened him for filing a false case against him. Aftermath, the victim disclosed the entire matter in the police station.
