On 19 August, heavy rain is likely in Jhabua, Alirajpur, Dhar, Barwani, Khargone, Burhanpur, Khandwa, Harda, Betul, Seoni, Mandla and Balaghat. The rest of the state may see light rain with thunder.
On Saturday, heavy rain in Barwani’s Rajpur caused rivers and drains to overflow, leading to the car of Nagar Palika Vice President Akash Barman being swept away. Rainfall was also recorded in Bhopal, Shajapur, Khargone, Dhar, Seoni and other districts.
Senior weather scientist Dr. Divya E. Surendran said that the rainfall is due to a monsoon trough line passing through Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Kota, Guna and Betul towards South Chhattisgarh, along with a low-pressure area and cyclonic circulation. Another trough is active in the southern part of the state. Around 18 August, a new low-pressure system is likely to develop over the Bay of Bengal, which may bring more rain to the state.
