Damoh (Madhya Pradesh): A liquor shop salesman in Damoh district was beaten and kidnapped by a group of men after he refused to give them free liquor on Saturday.
The incident happened on Saturday night at a liquor shop in Narsinghgarh village under Dehat police station limits.
Around 11:15 PM, six men came to the shop and demanded free liquor from the salesman, Nilesh Rai. When Nilesh refused, they forcefully entered the shop, assaulted him, and took him away in a vehicle.
After being informed by other staff members, police launched a search operation. Nilesh was found in serious condition near Suhah Duah village under Batiyagarh police station after about four hours.
According to Dehat police station in-charge Manish Kumar, a case has been registered against six men. Three accused — Dharmendra Thakur, Vinod Yadav, and Puran Lodhi — have been identified.
Police have arrested Puran Lodhi and are searching for the others.
Nilesh said that earlier on Saturday night, Dharmendra Thakur, his friend Ramu, and four others came to the shop and bought liquor by paying for it. About 15 minutes later, they returned and demanded free liquor. When Nilesh said he couldn’t give it without the owner’s permission, the group started abusing and threatening him before leaving.
At around 11 PM, one of them returned with a vehicle, and the group forcibly took Nilesh, beat him, and took him to a field about 1.5 kilometers from Suhah village. They snatched Rs 5000 from his pocket and his gold earring.
They threatened to kill him if he filed any complaint after their release from jail.
