Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): Patients and commoners continue to suffer because of poor management and negligence by the administration at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College Hospital in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur
Despite the government spending crores of rupees on medicines, equipment, maintenance and cleanliness, patients are reportedly deprived of even the most basic infrastructure facility in the institution.
According to reports, all three lifts in the medical hospital were in an unfunctional state for past 3 days. Due to which, elderly patients, children and even pregnant woman were seen using long ramps to reach the wards on upper levels. Patients were not provided wheelchair or stretcher assistance.
Understanding the seriousness of the matter, the Madhya Pradesh HRC (Human Rights Commission) had to intervene. On the basis of reports, the Commission’s main bench in Bhopal led by member Rajiv Kumar Tandon took Suo moto cognizance of the matter. The case has been termed as a serious breach of human rights by the bench.

The Commission has directed the Dean of the college to investigate the matter thoroughly and has asked for a detailed action-taken report within two weeks.
Regional office in-charge Farzana Mirza confirmed that the case was taken up in the public interest due to the concerning lapse in providing basic facilities to patients.
