In the note, the girl stated that she had asked him many times to stop, but he continued troubling her. “I can’t step out of my house anymore. I can’t bear this any further. I’m ending my life. Please forgive me, mom and dad,” she wrote.
At the time of the incident, her parents were in Jabalpur and her brother was not at home. She locked the door from inside and took the extreme step. When the family returned and found the door locked, they broke it open and found her hanging.
According to police, Rishabh had been previously arrested in January 2025 on molestation charges filed by the same girl. He was jailed for two months but resumed bothering her again, after his release. The girl had even stopped going to college due to fear.
After the postmortem, the girl’s family and local villagers held a protest by placing the body on the road in Gosalpur.
Members of the Sarv Brahmin Samaj and other community groups joined them, demanding the immediate arrest of the accused. The protest continued for two hours until SDOP Parul Sharma assured them of strict action.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation for Rishabh, who fled along with his family after the incident.
