Enemy Property Act: Probe Sought Into Land Sale By Bhopal Nawab Hamidullah Khan's Wife |
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Social activist Amitabh Agnihotri has demanded the government to institute a probe into selling of 30 acre of land in Behata village of Bhopal by Aftab Jehan Begum-wife of Bhopal Nawab Hamidullah Khan
Aftab Jehan Begum was a Pakistani citizen and therefore sale of the said land is illegal and automatically comes under the scanner, said the social activist in a press statement.
Citing the Enemy Property Act (enforced in 1968), the social activist sought to know whether Pakistani citizens could have sold property in Bhopal in 1994-95. Whether the Pakistani citizen was hiding her nationality while selling out the land and why the property was not declared as enemy property, Agnihotri asked.

He further stated that in the letter written by the Custodian Department to the government in 2015, it was mentioned that by construing Abida Sultan as successor of Nawab of Bhopal, all properties related to Bhopal Nawab will be construed as Enemy Property.
It should be investigated at what cost the land was sold by Aftab Jehan Begum and whether the Indian government issued a Visa to her in 1994-95 to come to India to carry out the land deal, said Agnihotri in his press note. Similarly, the passport of her in connection with her travel to Bhopal should also be examined, his note further stated.
