Criminals Hiding Among Devotees? Police Inspect Hotels Near Bageshwar Dham; Hotel Managers Told To Verify Staff, Share Pilgrim Records
Hotel owners were warned to record full details of all pilgrims in a register and inform the local police outpost regularly.

Chhatarpur (Madhya Pradesh): SDOP Khajuraho along with police officers carried out an inspection of hotels and homestays near Bageshwar Dham to ensure safety and proper recordkeeping on Wednesday.
The inspection was carried out a week after an ambulance carrying several women, suspected to be chain-snatchers, was caught near the MP-UP border.
The temple committee had raised concerns about criminal elements hiding among devotees and staying at the Dham.

During the visit, hotel managers were instructed to maintain and verify staff registers properly. Checks were conducted at Shri Krishna, Gurukripa, Saatvik, and Insignia hotels.
Police found that in some places, staff details were not verified. Officials ordered that verification must be done immediately.
Managers were also asked to submit daily reports of visitor numbers to the local police outpost.
The police team also focused on improving surveillance. They told hotel operators to keep CCTV cameras running at all times and install high-quality cameras for better visibility and safety.

Failing to follow these instructions may lead to legal action, the officers said.
The inspection team included SDOP Khajuraho Manmohan Singh Baghel, Bamitha TI Ashutosh Shrotriya, Dham committee member Neeshu Nayak, SI Siddharth Sharma, and police officers from the Bageshwar Dham outpost.
