Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva Sworn in as 29th Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh; MP High Court Strength Rises to 34 Judges |
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva took oath as the 29th Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh on Thursday. The oath was administered by Governor Mangubhai Patel at a ceremony held in Raj Bhavan, Bhopal.
The event was conducted by Chief Secretary Anurag Jain, while Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Devda was present as a special guest. Senior High Court Judge Vivek Aggarwal and several government representatives also attended the ceremony.
Assumed responsibility after retirement of Suresh Kait
Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva was appointed Acting Chief Justice on 24 May 2025. He was handling the responsibility of Chief Justice since the retirement of the then Chief Justice Suresh Kumar Kait.
Earlier also, he has taken over the responsibility of Acting Chief Justice of the state from 9 July 2024 to 24 September 2024. On 30 May 2024, Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva was transferred from Delhi High Court to Madhya Pradesh High Court.

He is currently in Madras High Court and has been transferred to Jabalpur. Now the number of judges in Madhya Pradesh High Court has increased to 34.
