Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Center (BMHRC) has now taken a concrete step towards green energy.
Keeping in mind environmental protection and energy efficiency, rooftop solar power plants have been installed at BMHRC, which will be able to meet more than 20 percent of the total electricity requirements of the institute itself.

This project is being operated under the instructions of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), in which all the institutions of the Council are being oriented towards renewable energy. These solar plants in BMHRC are being installed by NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited (NVVN). There is no financial liability on the institute under this scheme – it is completely free of cost.
The solar panels are being installed on the rooftops of BMHRC’s main building, auditorium, doctors’ hostel, nursing hostel and other structures. They are being installed in an area of about 4500 square metres.
Solar panels to generate 2200 units
It is estimated that these solar power plants will generate around 2200 units of electricity per day, while the hospital’s daily power consumption is around 10,000 units. This scheme will not only help in saving energy but also reduce environmental impact by using pollution-free and sustainable energy.
BMHRC's Dr Director-in-charge Manisha Shrivastava said, “This initiative reflects the environmental responsibility of the hospital. We are not only committed to providing quality healthcare services to the patients but are also paving the way for sustainable development for future generations by using clean energy.”
