Agra: A purported video of a cop beating a man with a leather strap inside a police station surfaced online. Netizens are claiming it to be from Uttar Pradesh's Agra. The Agra Police has taken cognisance of the video. However, the police pointed out that the cop who is thrashing the man mercilessly is not from the UP police.
In the video, it could be seen that a man wearing a police uniform is beating a person mercilessly with a leather belt, and the victim was pleading. However, the policeman did not stop.

Responding to the viral video, the Agra Police highlighted that the policeman seen in the video is not from Uttar Pradesh Police, as the force does not wear black belts in the state. The Agra Police also pointed out that the cop seen in the video does not have a UP Police hologram on his nameplate. The Agra Police said that it is still investigating the matter.
"This video does not appear to be of the Uttar Pradesh Police, as the Uttar Pradesh Police do not wear black belts, and the police personnel’s nameplate does not have the Uttar Pradesh Police monogram above it. Nevertheless, the video is being taken note of, and an investigation is underway. If the investigation finds that the video is related to Agra, necessary action will be taken against the concerned individual," the Agra Police said.
Last week, another video surfaced online, where an inspector in the UP Police was seen threatening an optician. The video of the alleged misuse of power by the inspector also surfaced online.
It was alleged that after getting his spectacles repaired, the inspector forcibly took them from the shop without paying. When the shopkeeper asked for the payment, the inspector not only verbally abused him but also threatened him.
