Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A 30-year-old woman, died at a private hospital in Sant Hirdaramnagar on Sunday, two days after undergoing a cesarean delivery, prompting allegations of medical negligence by her family, Bairagarh police said here on Monday.
According to police, the deceased identified as Neha Khare, a resident of Bapu Colony in Jahangirabad and wife of Shailendra Khare, was admitted to a private hospital on June 12 for her second delivery. She underwent a C-section on June 13, delivering a healthy baby girl. However, her condition reportedly worsened the next day, and she passed away on the afternoon of June 15.
Her family staged a protest at the hospital, alleging negligence during or after the procedure. Police, led by SI Inder Singh Mujalda, reached the scene, and began a formal investigation. The post-mortem was conducted on Monday, and results are awaited. Police have launched an investigation and seized hospital records.
Hospital director Dr Lal Kumar Kishnani stated that Neha was diabetic and had undergone her first delivery at the same facility without problem. He claimed she was stable after surgery but later suffered a sudden drop in oxygen level. Despite oxygen support, her condition did not improve. He denied any staff misbehaviour.
Documents seized
Police station incharge Ashok Gautam said hospital documents had been seized and would be reviewed by Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) after post-mortem report was received. CMHO Dr Manish Sharma assured of thorough probe after receiving formal complaint.
