Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): Gwalior police have registered a case against 15 people after a video of celebratory firing during a Matki Phod competition went viral on social media, as reported on Wednesday.
The incident took place during the Raksha Bandhan festival in Itayal village, under Dabra Dehat police station area.
The event drew a large crowd from nearby villages. Several young men were seen firing licensed guns into the air to celebrate and compete for prizes.
In the viral video, more than 50 shots can be seen being fired by multiple participants.
Such celebratory firing is banned by the district administration. As soon as the video came to the attention of police officials, immediate action was taken.

Dabra Dehat police registered a case against 7 identified and 8 unidentified individuals. A search for the accused is underway, and authorities have said that the licenses of the firearms used will be cancelled.
Police said that despite frequent accidents caused by such incidents, some villagers continue to treat celebratory firing as part of local tradition.
CSP Robin Jain confirmed that the incident violated the ban on celebratory firing in Gwalior district, and legal action is being taken against all those involved.
