Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): Over fifty participants took part in a traditional pot-breaking competition in Itayal village, Gwalior’s Dabra assembly area, where they fired live bullets continuously at a pot placed in a pond on Tuesday.

The competition attracted a large crowd from nearby villages.
The prizes were ₹5,100 for first place, ₹3,100 for second, and ₹1,100 for third.
Besides aiming at the pot, some participants also fired shots into the air during the event.
As per orders from the District Collector, authorities have banned such events due to frequent accidents. However, locals continue to organize them because of traditions.
The latest incident is particularly alarming as it disrupted safety protocols and the official prohibition. Eyewitness footage clearly shows multiple armed youths firing without safety which created a dangerous environment for bystanders.
Dabra SDM Saurabh Kumar confirmed that the matter is under investigation and assured action against the organizers. The administration said that such events pose a severe public safety risk and will be dealt with strictly to prevent future violations.
