Car Sales January 2025: Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata, MG, Kia, Toyota – Who Led the Market?

Automakers have reported their sales performance for January 2025, highlighting market trends and consumer demand. Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Tata Motors continue to lead the segment, while brands like MG and Kia also showcased notable figures. The sales data reflects shifting preferences, with strong demand for SUVs, EVs, and feature-rich models.
Maruti Suzuki
Maruti Suzuki set a new benchmark in January 2025, achieving its highest-ever monthly sales of 2,12,251 units. This included 1,77,688 units in domestic sales, 7,463 units supplied to other OEMs, and 27,100 units exported.
Hyundai
Hyundai Motor India reported total sales of 65,603 units during the month, with 54,003 units sold in the domestic market and 11,600 units exported.

Tata Motors recorded total sales of 80,304 vehicles in domestic and international markets, showing a slight decline compared to 86,125 units sold in January 2024.
MG Motor
MG Motor India witnessed a remarkable 256% year-on-year growth, selling 4,455 units in January. Over 70% of its sales came from its electric models, including the MG Windsor, Comet, and ZS EV. The company is preparing to expand its NEV lineup with the launch of the MG Cyberster and MG M9 under its premium MG Select brand.
Kia
Kia India started the year on a positive note, selling 25,025 units in January, reflecting a 5% growth compared to the same period last year. Its newly launched model, the Kia Syros, made a strong debut with 5,546 units sold in its first month, adding to the brand’s momentum.
Toyota
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) recorded a strong start to 2025 with a 19% year-on-year growth, selling 29,371 units in January compared to 24,609 units in the same month last year. This growth reflects the brand’s sustained momentum from 2024, driven by its focus on customer-centric strategies, wider market reach, and value-added solutions. Of the total sales, 26,178 units were sold in the domestic market, while 3,193 units were exported.
