US President Donald Trump has softened his stance on his former advisor and billionaire Elon Musk, stating that he wants the Spacex founder and his businesses to thrive. In a post on Truth Social on Thursday, Trump denied claims that he intends to destroy Musk's companies by halting the substantial subsidies they receive from the US government.
In the post Trump said,"Everyone is stating that I will destroy Elon’s companies by taking away some, if not all, of the large scale subsidies he receives from the U.S. Government. This is not so! I want Elon, and all businesses within our Country, to THRIVE, in fact, THRIVE like never before!"
He also said the better the businesses do, the better the country will do. "We are setting records every day, and I want to keep it that way!" the post read," he added.
Trump Threatens Musk
Earlier in the month, speaking to reporters, Trump said Musk’s businesses, like Tesla and SpaceX, receive large government subsidies. He hinted that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) might review these subsidies to save taxpayer money. "We might have to put DOGE on Elon,” Trump said, adding that Musk benefits more from subsidies than any other person.

Musk- Trump Feud
The feud between Trump and Musk started with Musk criticising Trump's ‘Big Beautiful’ spending bill, which has been passed by the Senate with a narrow margin, would eliminate subsidies for electric vehicle purchases, a factor that has benefited Tesla.
Musk called it a “disgusting abomination” and urged Americans to “kill the bill.” Trump, in turn, claimed to have removed Musk from EV policymaking roles and hinted at scrapping Tesla’s government contracts.
