President Donald Trump on Thursday said he was “very disappointed” with Elon Musk after the Tesla CEO and SpaceX founder criticised his signature bill. "Look, Elon and I had a great relationship. I don't know if we will any more," said Trump as Musk has appealed for his "One Big Beautiful Bill" to be stopped at all cost. "Kill the bill," Musk had said a day ago.
Trump suggested the world’s richest man misses being in the White House and has “Trump derangement syndrome", according to the Associated Press.
President Trump said, “He’s not the first. People leave my administration and they love us — and then, at some point, they miss it so badly. Some of them embrace it and some of them actually become hostile,” Trump said speaking to the media.
Trump further said, "I'm very disappointed with Elon. I've helped him a lot. He knew the inner workings of the bill better than anybody sitting here. He had no problem with it. All of a sudden he had a problem & he only developed the problem when he found out we're going to cut EV mandate."
Musk Responds
Billionaire and former senior advisor to Trump, Elon Musk responding to Trump's statement, said,"False, this bill was never shown to me even once and was passed in the dead of night so fast that almost no one in Congress could even read it!
Musk’s public criticism has come at a time when Trump is personally lobbying the Republicans on the bill in the Senate.
