Islamabad, June 22: Pakistan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Saunday said that United Nations Security Council (UNSC) will hold an emergency meeting today at Iran’s request. He further said that the meeting will be held following the U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear sites.
He also said that the meeting is supported by Pakistan, China and Russia. It is scheduled to take place this afternoon (New York time). Ishaq Dar took to his official social media account and said, "Emergency Meeting of the UN Security Council, at the request of Iran, supported by Pakistan, China and Russia is being scheduled this afternoon New York time!"
The meeting comes after Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif spoke with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
He expressed his deep concern over the strikes and strongly condemned the United States for its attacks on the nuclear facilities. Pakistan PM stated that they violated the international law which could lead to more tensions and conflict in the Middle East.
Pakistani Prime Minister's Office said that the U.S. strikes hit the nuclear facilities in Iran which are protected by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Shehbaz Sharif called this a serious breach of both international law and IAEA rules.

Iranian President Pezeshkian thanked Pakistan for its strong support and praised the unity between the two countries. Both leaders agreed that Muslim nations must stand together during this difficult time.
