US President Donald Trump, in keeping with the rapid and sweeping decisions at the very beginning of his second term, has said that he has ordered removal of 'Biden Era' US attorneys from US Department of Justice (DoJ) alleging politicisation of the US government's federal executive department. Trump made an announcement in this regard on Truth Social, the social media network he himself owns.
In his post, he said that it was time to "clean house" and that there was need to restore confidence in the country's justice system. This, he said, was necessary for America's 'golden age'.
There is considerable movement in the US judiciary especially after Donald Trump took charge.
On Tuesday, a top criminal prosecutor in US Attorney's Office in the Washington DC resigned after she declined request from Trump-appointed superiors to open grand jury investigation into funding decisions made by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) during Biden presidency. The ultimate goal was to freeze the funding to the EPA.
"Earlier yesterday, I was asked to review documentation supplied by the Office of the Deputy Attorney General to open a criminal investigation into whether a contract had been unlawfully awarded by an executive agency before the change in Administration and to issue grand jury subpoenas pursuant to this investigation," said Denise Cheung, the criminal prosecutor in her statement as mentioned by CNN.
