Mumbai: The U.S. Consulate General Mumbai, in collaboration with the Indo- American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) and Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co. (SAM), concluded its four-city Semiconductor Roundtable Series at the Jio World Convention Centre. The event gathered key figures from government, academia, and industry to advance U.S.-India semiconductor collaboration and innovation.
Consul General Mike Hankey and Jared Mondschein, Senior Advisor in the Office of the Special Envoy for Critical and Emerging Technology (S/TECH), emphasised the importance of secure and resilient supply chains at the finale event.
The roundtable series reinforced the TRUST Initiative (Transforming the Relationship Utilizing Strategic Technology) launched by President Trump and Prime Minister Modi in February 2025.
Speaking at the event, Consul General Mike Hankey said, “the semiconductor industry is central to the future of global innovation, and India—especially Western India—is
poised to play a defining role. This roundtable series has enabled essential
conversations between government, academia, and business leaders. It strengthens U.S.-India ties in a sector that impacts everything from economic security to global supply chains. We're proud to support this dialogue under the TRUST framework.”
In addition to the semiconductor finale, Mondschein also met with industry leaders to explore collaboration on pharmaceutical manufacturing, supply chain resilience, and advancing the AI Infrastructure Roadmap under TRUST. Mondschein highlighted, “our priority is to operationalize the TRUST Initiative across the emerging technology sectors
of the United States and India. The discussions and collaborations we’ve had here in Western India are crucial for building a secure and innovative future together.”
The U.S.-India AI Infrastructure Roadmap, launched under TRUST, aims to enhance AI capabilities and foster international collaboration, with significant investments from U.S. companies. This Initiative underscores the U.S.'s commitment to being the AI partner of choice while supporting India's AI aspirations.
The finale of the roundtable series included the release of a white paper outlining collaboration opportunities in knowledge transfer, workforce development, and responsible innovation in semiconductors. This series, which began in Mumbai on January 15 and included sessions in Nagpur, Pune, and Ahmedabad, has been instrumental in identifying challenges and recommending solutions to support India's semiconductor ambitions
