US President Donald Trump spoke with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, on a phone call on Wednesday to discuss a ceasefire with Russia. This came a day after Trump had spoken with Russian President Vladimir Putin on a phone call on Tuesday.

Assistant to the President and White House Deputy Chief of Staff, Dan Scavino, confirmed the development in a post on X, stating, "Happening Now—President Trump is in the Oval Office on a call with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine."

Earlier today, Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed concerns about Russian President Vladimir Putin's vow not to attack energy infrastructure, calling it "very much at odds with reality" following an overnight barrage of drone strikes across the country.

Zelenskyy mentioned that he would be speaking with US President Donald Trump later that day and anticipated hearing more details about Trump's phone conversation with Putin regarding a ceasefire, as well as discussing future steps.

"Despite Putin telling Trump last night that he was supposedly ordering a halt to attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure, overnight there were 150 drones launched, including against energy facilities," Zelenskyy stated during a press conference in Helsinki alongside Finnish President Alexander Stubb.

Russia countered by claiming it had stopped targeting Ukraine's energy infrastructure and accused Kyiv of attacking equipment near one of its pipelines.

"Unfortunately, we're not seeing any reciprocal action from the Kyiv regime at this point," stated Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
