Multiple Gunshots Reported, City Cordoned Off
Police responded quickly after receiving multiple calls about gunfire. A large section of the city center was sealed off as emergency services arrived on the scene.
“Several people have been found with injuries that indicate gunfire,” local police said in an official statement.
The identities of the victims have not yet been released. Investigators are still working to determine the number of shooters involved and the possible motive behind the attack.
Second Major Shooting in Sweden This Year
This is Sweden’s second major mass shooting incident in 2025, following a deadly attack in February when a 35-year-old gunman opened fire at an adult education center in Orebro, killing ten.
Sweden, which has seen a rise in gun violence in recent years, continues to grapple with questions around organised crime and public safety. Authorities have not confirmed whether Tuesday’s attack was gang-related or a targeted assault.

The incident has shocked residents of Uppsala, which is often seen as a symbol of modern and peaceful Sweden. Police have urged the public to avoid the area and asked anyone with information or videos to come forward.
