Doha (Qatar), June 23: In a major development in the Iran-Israel conflict in the Middle East, Qatar has temporarily closed its airspace to all flights as a safety precaution on Monday. The decision was made by the Qatari authorities to protect citizens, residents and visitors due to recent developments in the region. However, the decision comes mainly after reports of Iranian strikes on US military base in Syria.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said this is part of a set of safety measures being taken to ensure public security. Officials are closely watching the situation and are working with regional and international partners.
Both the U.S. and U.K. embassies in Qatar have adviced their citizens to stay indoors and take shelter.
The Qatari government has promised to update the public through official channels and said that safety remains its top priority. Authorities also stated they will continue to take any steps needed to protect everyone in the country.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, "The Qatari authorities announce the temporary suspension of air navigation in the country’s airspace to ensure the safety of citizens, residents, and visitors."
It further stated, "As part of the State of Qatar's efforts to ensure the safety of citizens, residents, and visitors, the relevant authorities announce the temporary suspension of air navigation in the country's airspace. This decision is part of a package of precautionary measures taken based on developments in the regional situation."
The ministry also said, "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms that official authorities are continuously monitoring the situation and evaluating developments in coordination with regional and international partners. The public will be informed of any updates through official channels."

The notification issued by the Ministry reaffirms that the safety and security of all individuals on Qatari soil remains an absolute priority, and that the country will not hesitate to take necessary protective and preventive measures under this framework.
