New Delhi: Haryana-based YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra was arrested last week on charges of spying for Pakistan. Malhotra's undated diary entry about her Pakistan visit has now surfaced online. In the diary, she painted a positive image of the neighbouring country.
Malhotra's 10-11 page diary entry has notes written in English and Hindi. She reportedly wrote two pages in Hindi about her stay in Pakistan's Lahore.
"Pakistan se 10 din ka ye safar tay karke aaj aa gai hun wapas apne ghar, apne watan – India/Bharat. Is dauran Pakistan ki awam se kaafi mohammat mili. Hamare subscribers, friends bhi hamse milne aae. Lahore ghoome ke lie mila 2 din ka waqt kaafi kam tha. (Today, I have returned to my country, India, after a 10-day trip from Pakistan. (During this time, I received a lot of love from the people of Pakistan. Our subscribers and friends also came to meet us. The two days we got to visit Lahore were not enough)," Malhotra wrote in her diary, which went viral on social media.
She even used "crazy" and "colourful" adjectives for describing Pakistan and stated that the experience of her Pakistani visit could not be described in words, reported NDTV.
In another diary entry, the Haryana-based YouTuber had written that people on both sides of the border belong to the same land. "Sarhadon ki duriyan pata nahi kab tak barkaraar rahengi, par dilon me jo gile shikwe hain, wo dur ho jaein. Ham sab ek hi dharti, ek hi mitti ke hain.” [Who knows how long these distances created by borders will remain, but the emotional grievances in our hearts should be resolved. We are all from the same land, the same soil)," Malhotra said in her diary entry, as quoted by The Financial Express.
She even requested Pakistani authorities to allow Indians to travel to more gurdwaras and temples. "Request hai ki Pakistan government Indians ke lie aur bhi gurudware aur mandiron ke lie raaste khole, sahuliyat paida karein ki hindu aur bhi wahan visit kar paein. Wahan ke temples ko bhi protect karein. Aur apni families se, jinse 1947 ke samay bichag gae the, unse mil paein (I request the Government of Pakistan to open more routes to gurudwaras and temples for Indian visitors. Please provide more facilities so that Hindus can visit them. The temples there should be protected, and people should be able to meet their families from whom they were separated during Partition in 1947)," she said in her diary on the Pakistan visit as reported by The Financial Express.
All About The Case:
Malhotra and 11 others were arrested from Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh for allegedly spying for Pakistan. The YouTuber was taken into custody on May 17. She reportedly came in contact with a Pakistan High Commission official, Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, in 2023. Malhotra reportedly visited Pakistan thrice - in 2023, 2024 and March 2025, just a month ahead of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
During the initial investigation, it was revealed that Malhotra provided information to her Pakistani officials during India's Operation Sindoor.
Investigators probing the case believe Malhotra was honey-trapped by Danish. Notably, Danish had alleged links with Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). He was declared persona non grata by the Indian government after the Pahalgam terror attack and was asked to leave India before May 13.
