The Israel defence (IDF) forces has denied any role in the attack near an US-backed aid delivery point in Rafah, southern Gaza, where at least 31 Palestinians were killed and over 170 were injured on Sunday and blamed Hamas of orchestrating the attacks.
The IDF also released a purported drone footage of the attack and said that Hamas is doing “everything in its power" to stop civilians from getting food in Gaza.
The IDF in a statement said, “False reports have been spread In recent hours, including serious allegations against the IDF regarding fire toward Gazan residents in the area of the humanitarian aid distribution site in Gaza. Findings from an initial inquiry indicate that the IDF did not fire at civilians while they were near or within the humanitarian aid distribution site and that reports to this effect are false.”
While posting the purported drone footage the IDF said, "Drone footage shows gunmen in Gaza shooting at civilians going to collect aid. Hamas is doing everything in its power to prevent the successful distribution of food in Gaza."
The attack took place a day after the US administration rejected Hamas’s response to its latest cease-fire proposal.
