A 41-year-old Indian-origin man, Abhay Devdas Nayak, was arrested on Sunday, July 27, in the UK after allegedly causing panic mid-air on an Easyjet flight travelling from London Luton Airport to Glasgow.
The incident took place during an EasyJet flight when Nayak began loudly raising slogans mid-air, creating panic among passengers.
Video clips circulating on social media show him standing in the plane and shouting"I’m going to bomb the plane”, “Allahu Akbar and " “Death to America" & "Death to Trump." The video shows, one of the passenger forcing him to the floor.
Officers from Police Scotland boarded the aircraft upon arrival and arrested him.
Nayak had documents showing he was an Indian national with refugee, New York Post reported quoting a witness. Nayak is from Luton in Bedfordshire near London.
Nayak Produced In Paisley Sheriff Court
He was produced at the Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday and has been remanded to judicial custody until a court appearance next week. Nayak reportedly did not enter a plea.
No Terrorism Charges
Reportedly, counter-terror police reviewed the case and Nayak has not been charged with terrorism charges. No explosives were found on the plane.
Nayak has been charged under the Air Navigation Order of the United Kingdom (UK). One of the charges is related to a person recklessly or negligently acting in a manner likely to endanger an aircraft, or any person in an aircraft.

In an officical statement, EasyJet said that Nayak was "removed" from the flight due to his behaviour. "We can confirm that a passenger was removed by police due to disruptive behaviour, and we are assisting authorities with their enquiries."
