US President Donald Trump on Tuesday said he would consider deporting Elon Musk as tensions between the two reignited, following renewed criticism from the SpaceX founder over Trump’s tax and budget proposals.
When asked, “Are you going to deport Elon Musk?” Trump responded saying, "We'll have to take a look. We might have to put DOGE on Elon. You know what DOGE is? The monster that might have to go back and eat Elon. Wouldn’t that be terrible? He gets a lot of subsidies," Trump said while speaking to reporters outside the White House.
The statement comes just hours after his post on Truth Social, where Trump said he might order the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)—which Musk previously led—to review the billions in contracts awarded to his companies.
Musk Responds
In response to the viral clip, Musk said on X: “So tempting to escalate this. So, so tempting. But I will refrain for now.”
Musk was born in South Africa in 1971 and became a U.S. citizen in 2002.
