Washington DC: United States President Donald Trump on Tuesday sparked controversy with his "countries kissing my a*s" comment during his speech at the National Republican Congressional Committee's donor event. Talking about his decision to impose tariffs, Trump called the move “legendary".

The US President did not name the countries but said that these nations are calling him up and urging him to make a deal.

"These countries are calling me up, kissing my ass…they are dying to make a deal… They are, they are dying to make a deal. Please, please, sir, make a deal. I'll do anything, Trump said in the video. The clip of Trump's speech is going viral on social media.

The US President further added, "And then I’ll see some rebel Republican - some guy that wants to grandstand and say ‘I think that Congress should take over negotiations.’ Let me tell you, you don’t negotiate like I negotiate.”

Donald Trump's Statement:

Notably, Trump has received a massive backlash from his own allies after he imposed staggering 104 per cent tariffs on China. He said that for years China “ripped" the US and now it is his country's turn to rip them.

Notably, last week Trump claimed that he had a "productive" call with To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam. He said that Vietnam wanted to cut tariffs to zero and make a deal with the US. Last week, the US President also had calls with South Korea's acting president and ISrael's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Trump is facing criticism for his controversial remark. One of the X users wrote, "When the stock market drops 30% but you secure a favorable trade deal with Burkina Faso."

"Here’s what you have accomplished. We have seen what Trump has done. Our Market are crashing. Our tariffs will crush families. Farmers are losing their farms and more will under these tariffs. Small businesses will close because of the tariffs cost. Stagflation, layoffs and recession is on the way . Trump shows no respect to our fallen military members. Trump just fired our cybersecurity general with 30 years of experience. We as a country are less safe under you. This picture also says it all about your character too. No more needs to be said," another user wrote.

"Arrogance isn’t diplomacy. Disrespect isn’t leadership," an X user from Inida wrote.

Donald Trump has launched tariff wars with nearly all of America's trading partners. Meanwhile, responding to Trump's 104 per cent tariffs, China said that it would levy its own 34 per cent tariff on all US goods, starting Thursday. The US President also imposed 26 per cent tariffs on Indian goods.
