Dhaka: The Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) base in Cox's Bazar was attacked on Monday, claimed local media reports. At least one person was reported to be killed in the attack. Several others were also reportedly injured in the incident. According to reports, some men tried to barge into the air force station after which security forces opened fire.
The deceased has been identified as as a 30-year-old local trader Shihab Kabir, reported Bangladesh Daily The Business Standard quoting Cox's Bazar Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin. Kabir reportedly died after being shot.
The visuals of alleged attack also surfaced. In the visuals, security personnel could be seen opening fire on locals.

An investigation has been launched into the matter. Media persons are not allowed to go near the scene of the clash.
As per the Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR) directorate of Bangladesh's defence ministry, miscreants launched a sudden attack on the Air Force Base near Cox's Bazar's Samiti Para around noon.
The attack took place hours after Home Affairs Adviser, retired Lieutenant General M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, in a pre-dawn press conference reiterated the government's commitment to maintaining law and order.
