Continuing on his trend of executive orders, US President Donald Trump posted on TruthSocial that he will be signing one to reverse former president Joe Biden's push for paper straw and that country will go back to using plastic straws. Trump called Biden's decision 'ridiculous' saying that paper straws 'don't work'
'Back to plastic," he wrote in his post.
Trump has already taken US out of Paris Climate Treaty, an international agreement to combat climate change which is signed by nearly 200 countries. The world community has agreed to make efforts to keep the global warming below 2 degrees Celsius, ideally below 1.5 degrees Celsius. The agreement, while not a legally binding documents, has been considered as a landmark event to safeguard Earth and environment.
In his series of tweets, Trump also lashed out at US Agency for International Development (USAID). The president claimed that the agency was 'fraudulently' handing out funds for 'unexplainable' reasons.
"USAID is driving the radical left crazy, and there is nothing they can do about it because the way in which the money has been spent, so much of it fraudulently, is totally unexplainable. The corruption is at levels rarely seen before. Close it down," Trump wrote on X.
That Trump will see to control USAID spends was hinted earlier this week. White House Press Secretary Karoline Levitt criticized USAID and mentioned millions of dollars of aid being given to projects like Diversity, equity and inclusion programmes (DEI) in Serbia, transgender opera in Columbia and similar activities.
"If you look at the waste and abuse that has run through USAID over the past several years, these are some of the insane priorities that the organisation has been spending money on -- USD 1.5 million to advance DEI in Serbia's workplaces, USD 70,000 for the production of a DEI musical in Ireland, USD 47,000 for a transgender opera in Colombia, USD 32,000 for a transgender comic book in Peru," Levitt had told reporters.
