American Couple Jailed After Arrest On India-Bound Plane In Singapore For Stealing Louis Vuitton, Dior Products Worth ₹65,000 At Airport

An American couple, Kapadia Husain Zoher, 35, and Kapadia Amatullah, 30, were arrested at Changi Airport in Singapore for stealing Louis Vuitton and Dior products valued at over $750 (₹65,000 ) while in transit.

The dentist husband and engineer wife were apprehended after boarding their Mumbai-bound flight, just before it was about to take off. Both are American nationals, likely of Indian origin.

The couple committed the offense while they were waiting for their connecting flight to India on June 23.

Couple Sentenced To Jail

While the husband carried out the theft, the wife acted as a lookout. On 4 August, Kapadia Husain Zoher, the husband, was sent to 18 days in jail after pleading guilty to a theft charge. His wife, who also pleaded guilty to a similar offence, was sentenced to one week in jail.

How The Offence Was Committed?

At around 5pm on June 23, Kapadia Husain Zoher entered a Louis Vuitton store at the airport’s Terminal 1 and committed the offence. Zoher then took a bottle of Dior Sauvage perfume worth around $160 (14,036.98 ) and put it into his pocket, while his wife acted as a lookout.

Zoher stole a case holder worth around $600 (52,641.69) and left the store without paying. The act was caught on the CCTV cameras inside the store. Both stolen items were recovered and returned to the respective stores.
