“In view of the situation near the Thailand-Cambodia border, all Indian travellers to Thailand are advised to check updates from Thai official sources, including the TAT Newsroom,” the Embassy posted on X.

Closures in Seven Provinces Amid Military Clashes

According to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), several tourist attractions across seven provinces, including Ubon Ratchathani, Surin, Sisaket, Buriram, Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi, and Trat, have been declared unsafe. Sites such as Phu Chong‑Na Yoi National Park, Prasat Ta Muen Thom temple, and border checkpoints like Chong Chom and Ban Hat Lek are among the restricted areas.

The advisory, updated on July 24, urged tourists to stay away from zones near active border engagements, and to follow provincial TAT offices for real-time updates. Many of the sites now off-limits are historical ruins and natural parks, often frequented by international visitors.

Global Plea for Restraint Amid Escalation

Thai authorities allege the current round of hostilities began after a landmine blast wounded five Thai soldiers on Wednesday, allegedly caused by newly laid Russian-made mines. In retaliation, Thai fighter jets carried out airstrikes against Cambodian positions, including truck-mounted rocket launchers.

Public Health Minister Somsak Thepsuthin said 13 civilians and one soldier were killed in what he described as “Cambodian attacks on civilians and a hospital,” calling the actions “war crimes”.
