Panaji, Goa: An extremely heavy rainfall in the last 24-hour has created flood like situation in Goa. Earlier, IMD issued red alert across the state. The rainfall has disrupted daily life and commuters are facing difficulties. Traffic was disrupted in the parts of the state which witnessed heavy rainfall since yesterday.
A video has surfaced on social media in which it can be seen that a man is trapped in a waterlogged road. The water current is so fast that the man swept away along with the current. The water swept him along with his scooter. The man was unable to balance himself in the flooding water. The incident was reportedly recorded by an onlooker and the video of the incident is doing rounds on social media.
Another video shows that two girls are trying to cross the road, when they fall in the waterlogged road. They are seen trying to cross the road with umbrellas in their hands, as it is raining heavily.
The incidents have exposed the unpreparedness of the authorities. The people might face major problems in the state as the monsoon is approaching and heavy rainfall is expected in the coming days.
The internet users are slamming the government for the worsening condition in the state due to the breif pre-monsoon rains. They are demanding swift action from the authorities to take proper steps to tackle the situation arising due to the heavy rains.
There are many videos surfacing on the internet showing waterlogged streets due to the inadequate cleaning of the drains. Earlier, Maharashtra also witnessed heavy rains yesterday. The state witnessed waterlogging in amny parts. Mumbai was the worst hit due to rain as many areas witnessed waterlogging. Subway in Andheri witnessed waterlogging due to which it had to be closed temporarily.
