Mandya (Karnataka), July 27: In a terrifying incident, a video has surfaced on social media in which a leopard entered the compound of a house and dragged away a pet dog from the house in Karnataka's Mandya. The horrific incident was captured on the CCTV camera installed in the compound and the video of the incident is doing rounds on social media. It can be seen in the video that the leopard took away the dog.
The incident reportedly occurred in Mole Doddi village of Malavalli in Mandya district and tension has gripped the people of the village after the incident came to light. Luckily, no villager was present at the time of the attack, as the incident unfolded at around 1 AM late in the night.
As per reports, the leopard leaped over the compound wall of the residence before attacking the dog. CCTV footage of the house shows the big cat entering the premises with surprising ease and escaping with the dog within seconds. The house reportedly belonged to Lingaraju and the dog was sleeping at the doorstep of the house when it was attacked by the big cat.
The video of the incident has since gone viral on social media. This is not the first incident as a goat was reportedly attacked and killed by a similar leopard a few hundred meters from the latest spot. The increasing number of incidents of leopard attacks have heightened the fear and panic among the farmers and the families living in the vicinity near the forested areas.
Fear has gripped villagers, who are now demanding immediate action from forest officials. The animal should be traced and captured before it harms any resident of the village.
