A disturbing video, widely shared across social media, has sparked fresh outrage over women’s safety in Pakistan. The undated clip shows two young women walking without a hijab through a crowded street, dressed in jeans and tops, when they are suddenly surrounded, heckled and physically assaulted by a group of men.
The footage captures a horrifying scene, wherein the girls, appearing visibly distressed, are cornered near a shop before a mob quickly engulfs them. Despite attempts to escape, the crowd closes in. While the exact location and date remain unverified, the video is drawing widespread condemnation online. As of now, no official police response or action has been reported.

Social media users expressed fury and disgust over the incident. “Watch the two girls walking through the crowd & how these vultures encircle them to harass... Women are unsafe in Pakistan,” posted one user on X. Another commented, “Not even animals act like this.”

The video has reignited concerns about Pakistan's growing intolerance and the policing of women’s attire. It comes months after a similar incident in February 2024, when a woman in Lahore was mobbed inside a restaurant over alleged blasphemy. Her kurta bore Arabic script, which some mistook for Quranic verses. She was only saved after a female officer intervened and led her out safely.
Critics are calling for swift action and stronger protection for women in public spaces. “Two uncovered teenage girls walk through a crowded street, and they are suddenly surrounded by hundreds of men who can’t control themselves upon seeing women’s hair,” another X user wrote.
