A new and unusual scene has emerged from the streets of Prayagraj, where a flyover has gained unexpected recognition, not for its architectural significance, but for its status as a spiritual entity.

The flyover located somewhere around the Maha Kumbh Mela venue has been humorously dubbed 'Flyover Baba' by internet users. But why?

A video widely circulated online showed devotees walking on this unidentified flyover, touching its walls and seeking blessings as though it were a divine construction. The clip captured people jumping and extending their arms to receive blessings of "Flyover Baba".

"Flyover Baba" of Maha Kumbh

The video, which has quickly gone viral, showcases the devotion of individuals who seem to regard the flyover as a sacred object.

Touching the feet of a deity at the temple is a way of expressing reverence. People carried out this behaviour as they walked on the narrow passage under the flyover.

The footage filmed both men and women walking towards the side walls of the flyover, coming in contact with it, and placing their hands on their forehead with the absorbed blessings. A few devotees at Prayagraj also jumped to touch the top wall of the structure.

At first, one might have thought the flyover was given the status of a "Baba" after some miracle resulted on the premises. However, social media posts claimed someone from the crowd accidentally touched the walls of the structure and others blindly followed the act. Also, there was no saint or baba seated on the flyover, which brought it this name. Thus, netizens termed this a sheer example of "Blind faith". They commented on the video by saying, "Kon kehta hai andhbhakti nahi hai?” (Who says blind faith doesn’t exist?".

As the video continues to go viral, netizens share their reactions on "Flyover Baba". "Hey Bhagwan, this is crazy", an X user wrote. "You too should take the blessings of Flyover Baba", said another. The comments section flooded with laughter emojis.

Earlier, in a similar case, devotees at a temple were seen drinking water flowing out of an AC outlet. Devotees visiting Mathura's Banke Bihari Mandir confused water dripping from an AC duct as 'Charan Amrit'. A video from the incident went viral highlighting how people blindly engaged in the act as a way of expressing devotion.
