After his last big hit alt39 3 Idiotsalt39, Vidhu has been working on another project – alt39 Ferrari Ki Sawarialt39. The producer shares the story behind the title.
” Almost three years ago, I was in America and was living in one of Charlie Chaplins rooms.
There was a small stage there on which he used to perform for his friends. It was a very inspiring house, and thats where I came up with this title.” alt39 Ferrari Ki Sawarialt39 stars Sharman Joshi in the lead, with Boman Irani as his father. Vidhu, along with debutant director Rajesh Mapuskar, put in four long years to make a strong story, after which Rajkumar Hirani wrote the dialogues.
In this drama that tells the tale of a small child and his father, there is also an item number by Vidya Balan. Vidhu disapproves of item numbers but justifies the need in this case saying, ” I dislike the word alt39 item numbersalt39. I feel when an item song is used in a movie it means that my film is not happening and needs the support of such gimmicks. alt39 Ferrari Ki Sawarialt39 needed a lavni song which takes place at a politicians wedding where Sharman goes with the car.” Then, how did Vidya come into the picture? Vidhu explains, ” Vidya was not a part of the film initially. Rajesh was out in Pune among genuine lavni dancers. At that point, he pushed me to approach Vidya for this song. I doubted it but when I asked Vidya, she replied alt39 I have been dying to do the lavni for 15 years; you canalt39t deny me this opportunity.alt39 She rehearsed for 15 days and shot the song. I was amazed at her dedication.” However, the first song from the film that has been released is alt39 Maara Realt39, which is about sixes and fours as the film also talks about the game of cricket. The song was shot at the epic Lords stadium in London. An ecstatic Vidhu reveals, ” This song is a tribute to cricket. It talks about the fun we have while playing with children. No film till date has been shot at the Lords stadium. Initially, even we had got a no from them. But we sent them our script and told them the story. And finally they permitted us, but only for a small room. But when they saw our dedication, we were allowed to shoot in the historical long room and the ground. It was an unbelievable and emotional moment for me.” However the child artist who is seen hitting the cricketing shots in the song has been kept away from the media. ” He is a natural performer and we want his innocence to be preserved. We have not even shown him the film. If he watches the film then he might get airs and think of himself as a star,” says Vidhu.
Apart from this project, Vidhu is working on the script of alt39 Broken Horsesalt39 which he plans to start shooting by the end of this year. Along with that, he says the writing of the third part of alt39 Munna Bhaialt39 series too has begun.
