Ujjain: Festival of Chhat was celebrated with full devotion and enthusiasm in the city on Friday evening. Families from North India residing in Ujjain celebrated the festival by worshipping setting sun at the banks of river and ponds.
Women performed aradhya ( worship) to Lord Sun for peace and prosperity of family. The festival of Chhat is celebrated mainly in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
Families from North India residing across the city also celebrated the occasion with full fervour by seeking blessings from Lord. Women kept fast and reached with their family members at Ramghat, Vikram Sarovar and other water bodies in the city to offer prayers to setting sun.
They will remain awaken throughout the night. After offering prayer before rising sun on Saturday morning, they will break their fast. People also put up a show of pyrotechnics to mark the occasion. Women performing worship of setting sun to mark Chhat festival in Ujjain on Friday.
