Mumbai: The Mumbai Police has issued a clarification regarding false messages being circulated on WhatsApp groups claiming that Dadar Chowpatty has been closed due to ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan.
The clarification was shared by the Mumbai police on Friday. Authorities confirmed that the popular beach remains open to all citizens and labelled the viral messages as fake. Mumbai Police clarified on X (formerly Twitter), "Fake messages are being circulated on WhatsApp groups regarding the closure of Dadar Chowpatty. Please be informed that Dadar Chowpatty remains open to all citizens."
The police emphasised the importance of verifying facts through official channels and discouraged the spread of misinformation. They also urged citizens not to believe in the random fake viral messages on WhatsApp. They also mentioned that for accurate information and updates, check @Mumbaipolice on X.
An X post shared by Mumbai Police stated, "We urge all Mumbaikars to rely only on information shared through official government portals. Please refrain from forwarding or believing unverified news circulating on social media, forwarded messages, or unofficial online sources. Your cooperation will help us curb the spread of misinformation."
