iPhone 17 Pro Series Tipped To Get Massive Camera Upgrades, May Get Physical Shutter Button

Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 Pro is expected to bring major camera upgrades, according to new leaks circulating online. A recent MacRumors report, cites an anonymous source involved in a commercial shoot, to allege that Apple may reveal three key camera features aimed at professional users and content creators.

iPhone 17 Pro Max may get improved zooming capabilities

One of the standout changes, according to the report, could be the introduction of an 8x optical zoom lens on the iPhone 17 Pro Max, a significant leap from the 5x zoom on the iPhone 15 Pro Max. This advanced telephoto capability is said to deliver sharper images without digital distortion, setting a new benchmark for smartphone zoom technology. The smaller iPhone 17 Pro model, however, may retain the 5x zoom.

iPhone 17 Pro series may get a dedicated camera button

Adding to the camera-centric upgrades, Apple is reportedly testing a new dedicated Camera button on the top-right edge of the device. Unlike the current Action Button, this new button may offer tactile controls specifically for photography and videography, potentially enabling features like half-press to focus and full-press to capture—similar to DSLR camera shutters.

iPhone 17 Pro may see a revamped Camera app

Apple is also rumored to be developing a professional-grade Camera app tailored for creators. This app may offer granular manual controls such as ISO, shutter speed, and focus peaking, appealing to those who use iPhones for serious photo and video production.

While Apple has yet to confirm any of these features, the consistency of recent leaks points toward a photography-focused overhaul in the iPhone 17 Pro series.

Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 17 lineup in September, just weeks after Google's hardware event. The iPhone 17 lineup is likley to include a new variant - the iPhone 17 Air - which is said to be the 'thinnest and lightest iPhone ever'.
